[Travels] Glorious Mt. Hood

Summer 2010.
June 19th, to be exact.

With the weather, this year, having been so wet and cold and cloudy, we weren't sure we would be able to see Mt Hood in all its glory, this past Saturday, during our second wedding of the summer 2010 season.

Turns out... the clouds dissipated and the mountain showed its face!

Here are some of the images of her.

The leaves are changing in the Pacific NW...

Well... the {short} sunny days of summer are over.
They were GREAT while they lasted!

We are in full October mode and the rains are finally here. I suppose this is the reason why our forests are so lush and green :-)

It is easy for residents of this area to be somber about the gloominess of the fall and winter months... I am guilty of it myself!

Today, I stopped and {smelled the roses} took a look around our huge back yard (which is part of Forest Park- the largest urban park in the United States) and saw the beauty of nature at work.

Leaves are quickly turning to gorgeous hues of yellow and red and orange. I decided to take advantage of the short fall season and took some closeup photos of the most colorful leaves I could find...

Here they are :-)

Happy fall everyone!

Land Rover Workshop in Portland!

This was different for us :-)

We are SO busy photographing weddings in the summer and easy fall... it seems like we don't have much time for anything else!
But we made time for this!
Francis and Elsa are friends of ours and our trusty Land Rover mechanics too!
The hosted a 5 hours 4x4 workshop at their shop this past Sunday.

Bill Burke's 4-Wheeling America was invited to speak. (THANK YOU BILL!)

PDX Rovers hosted it. (THANK YOU FRANCIS AND ELSA!)

Fun and interesting and, obviously, some awesome photogenic Land Rovers to photograph!

YEAH :-)

{Concert!} Paolo Nutini - Crystal Ballroom - Portland OR

Yet another fantastic opportunity made possible by our good friends at Melophobe!

Paolo Nuniti came to Portland to play a show at the Crystal Ballroom, on September 14th, 2009.

Josh and I had photo and press passes and were thrilled!

A link to Melophobe's post of our review and photos here!

Enjoy the slideshow!

Great light at one of our recent wedding shoots!

The sun set SO quickly during this wedding...

A sure sign that summer is going away... :-(

That was the only sign of autumn though, 'cause boy was it warm and bright and GORGEOUS out on Kati and Scott's wedding day!

Date: Wednesday August 26th, 2009
Location: O&L Nofziger Gardens, Tangent OR

The (1st) image below merits an explanation/description:
- 9:45 pm (pitch black sky)
- 20 second exposure
- aperture at 2.8
- ISO at 800
- lens used was our 24-70mm f2.8
- I caught the rotation on the stars, part of the Milky Way on the left and a Shooting Star! :-)

The next shot's explanation:
- Josh suggested we set up this shot with Kati & Scott, they agreed! Yay!!
- Nikon D3 sitting on chair (out of my hands)
- Same settings and parameters as what I described for the above image! Only difference being the presence of the bride and groom :-) I set the camera on the chair and let it go for 20 seconds. Kati & Scott did NOT move at all (just as we instructed them! Awesome!)

Slide Show of Josh and My Road Trip to the SW :-)

We left around June 8th 2009.
We covered 3300 in 10 days.
We went from home, Portland Oregon, to Idaho, to Utah, to Arizona, to California and back to Portland Oregon.
We camped every step of the way, sleeping in our Land Roved (who we affectionately call Bessy). She is a trooper with 179,000 miles!
Enjoy...
We did!
